7 Things You Didn’t Know About Me

Awhile ago Scott Monty tagged me in this “7 Things You Don’t Know” meme, or whatever you want to call it. Well anyway, I decided I’d take a shot at it. Might as well be a little more transparent, and let people know a little more about me.

1. I actually enjoy classical music. I may not know who I’m listening to or if it’s traditionally good, but I know what I like, and it helps me concentrate. Over-all in music, I tend to stray towards stuff I find relaxing or actually has a meaning in their lyrics.

2. The second thing you might not know, a major flaw of mine, is I start reading books and forget to finish them. I don’t know why, but I tend to jump from book to book, skimming through them. There are some I recommend though, if you ask I’ll let you know.

3. I kind of addendum to the previous one, I need to work on multiple projects at once. I get bored if I’m working on the same thing over and over again. My mind jumps all over the place and it’s actually an interesting thought process.

4. Hopefully people don’t hate me for this one, but I write all my blog posts out on paper before typing them up to post. There’s something about the pen and paper that stirs my mind and gets my ideas flowing. It also gives me a way to proofread and edit as I transcribe from paper to blog.

5. Contrary to popular belief, I am not a magician and I do have a life beyond social media and search engine optimization. I like to watch college football, swim, and I’m currently learning how to surf. In fact I’m going to Hawaii in May, so maybe you’ll see some pictures of me wiping out on the beach.

6. I wanted to add something about new media, so here it is. I truly, believe new media marketing to be a thing of passion. Either you love it, and want to create new ways to market products and people, or you’ll get frustrated as you experiment and try. Too many people are simply re-writing what they’ve read on another blog instead of thinking it through. Even if you don’t have experience, back up what you’re saying and tell us why. Think about what you write, don’t just state it as a fact. In new media marketing, very little is fact.

7. Lastly, I really believe that without good friends to bounce ideas of off, you’re bound to fail. Thankfully, David Harry has been around for me; smacking me with wit and logic when I stop thinking. Debating social media with him has lead me to a deeper understanding of how to use it, and how to help it grow.
