Recommended: "The New Community Rules"

Luckily, while I was home recovering from surgery and going crazy (nothing serious, I had my appendix removed), I received “The New Community Rules: Marketing on the Social Web” to read. I’m so glad I read the entire book and I’m going to recommend it as a required resource for all new marketers.

The book is written by a friend, Tamar Weinberg, technology enthusiast and social media consultant. She’s brilliant and fully understands how to build and execute social media strategy.

Tamar’s book outlines and explains how to use social media in great detail. Unlike other books in the industry, “The New Community Rules” tackles the fundamental ideas as well as the detailed execution.

Another reason why I liked the book is that it doesn’t sell me social media. This book isn’t a pitch to get you to start social media, but instead targets people that want to leverage the medium and need a road-map.

The only thing I hope she does is create a cheat sheet or a quick reference guide. The book is filled with information that may overwhelm some readers.

Nonetheless, the book is a must read. Tamar explores and analyzes all the important aspects of social media, and clearly explains how to best take advantage of the new medium.

It is definitely, required reading.
