How to Convince Your Readers They Need You

There are millions of blogs and new ones are created constantly. With all the options, how do you make your blog stand out? What do you do to make your readers need you?

I’ve put together a list of 6 things you can do to convince your visitors to keep coming back.

Step by Step Tutorials

Teaching your readers something is a sure fire way to keep people interested in your blog.

Give well detailed directions to something your visitors will find useful. The directions should be easily followed and illustrations help a lot.

If you want to take it a step further, you might consider creating a screencast. These are great and extremely helpful when trying to teach something.

Advice

People use blogs to learn something. Whether they’re looking for a tutorial or to learn from someone’s experiences, giving advice is a great way to keep readers engaged.

Teach from your experiences. What have you done that worked? Why did it work? Did you buy something that sucked? Let your readers know. They’ll definitely appreciate learning from you, instead of learning on their own.

Give Numbers

Personal advice is great, but sometimes your readers expect more. By showing numbers and proof with your advice, you make what you say more reputable.

Your reputation and proven experiences will convince readers to stick around.

Latest News

Being the first to write about a scoop can really set you apart from other blogs. But the problem is getting the news in the first place.

Sometimes giving your own analysis of the latest news is good enough. If what you write is unique and intelligent, readers will count on your analysis to make up their mind.

Entertainment

Everything doesn’t have to be serious on blogs. In fact a large number of blogs are dedicated to entertaining their readers.

Writing sarcastic or humorous posts can entertain people enough to keep coming back to see what you wrote next. People really do get bored at work.

Free Gifts

Giving things away for free is always a great way to show your worth. Readers love free things, and the chance you’ll give more stuff away keeps people interested.

If you don’t have the money to give away a product, offer your services. You can give away free advertising, or a blog post.
