Plurk and Karma

Yes today is a Plurk day, it just is such an amazing tool. So let’s talk about an interesting feature that Plurk has, the concept of Karma.

What is Karma

Here’s what we know for sure about Karma, the higher your Karma the higher your worth to the community and your influence with Plurk. With that in mind a lot of people will be interested to increase that value as quickly as possible. Also, Karma is updated only once every 8 to 12 hours (usually) and is affected by Plurking, inviting friends, and responding to other Plurks.

Build Karma

Here is where we begin to consider ways to increase that value.

  • Inviting friends is definite, but inviting loud active friends is important because the FAQ hints at the possibility that you receive Karma also based on your friends actions.
  • Plurking consistently, different Plurk types. For example using ‘is’, ‘asks’, ‘thinks’ instead of continually using ’says’ may increase your Karma.
  • Responding to Plurks and being an active member in the conversation.
  • The use of Emoticons, Images, and Videos may help your Karma score.
  • Having a fully completed profile.
  • One thing to be wary about is Plurking too much. The FAQ alludes to the fact that too many Plurks (over 30) may be against the site culture, and might be penalized.
