Social Media and the Presidential Debate

Television news has embraced social media, and tonight’s president debate will highlight how far they’ve gone to push it. I’ve put together a list of places that are holding live blogs, live twittering, and other sites for you to meet with your fellow voters to rate, and watch the debate…

Twitter has put out Twitter Elections for you to write and read responses about the election and the debate in real time.

Don’t like Twitter? Check out C-Spans’ Debate Hub. Mashable has a great article about it.

@Waynesutton is going to be co-hosting online conversations at Politics.MyNC.com.

If you have a Neuros OSD, definitely check out “Crowd Narration” it lets you superimpose chat onto your TV, so you can see what other people are saying about the debate in real time.

11alive.com is trying to gather opinions of undecided voters as they watch the Presidential Debate. If you’re interested, you can read more about it here.

Jeremiah Owyang of Web-Strategist.com has put together an awesome tally list and rules for rating the debate tonight. You can read more about it here, but it basically uses Twitter and hash tags to focus the conversation.

Finally, if you’re tired of all the politics, already have decided who you’re going to vote for, or just don’t care, you can always try out the Presidential Debate Drinking Game. It will definitely make the evening interesting!

Hosting an event for the President Debate? Live blogging it or going to tweet it? Leave a comment and let me know; I’ll add it to this list throughout the night! As for me, I’ll be live twittering my thoughts about the debate, so be sure to follow me @leftthebox
